Ulcinj Salina – a Bird Paradise and Important Nesting and Resting Site on the Adriatic Flyway

Jun 20, 2019 | Publications, Resources

This brochure will provide you with useful information about Ulcinj Salina in Montenegro which is a very special place for birds and for people. More than 250 species of birds, interesting plants and a beautiful landscape can be found in this valuable wetland. Besides interesting information for visitors, the brochure gives background information on the history of the Salina. For example, how the once blooming salt garden was run down until bankruptcy and how this is causing the salt pans´s decay. And in which way the #SaveSalina campaign is engaging for a proper conservation of Ulcinj Salina.

Since the publication of this brochure in early 2019, Ulcinj Salina has been protected under national and international law. Unfortunately, the ecosystem and therefore the rich biodiversity are still under threat.
